Embroidery is the art of embellishing fabric or materials with designs that are sewed together with a thread. Either done by hand or machine, it involves the use of special threads available in many colors that help to produce various beautiful patterns.
Embroidery sewing machines are used to create beautiful designs that are very popular when used on various styles of outfits. The varieties of these devices available in the market are plenty, and most of the modern sophisticated models perform almost all kinds of patterns and stitches. They can be mechanical, electronic, or computerized.
A hobby to some and profession to others, today embroidery designs are very effectively used even by the most prominent designers. For this, the embroidery machines need to be cared for in the long run. There are always little tricks of the trade that can help you achieve this. Here are some maintenance tips to help you achieve the best from your device.
Maintenance Tips
➾ Try to keep your sewing machine covered when not in use. This would ensure you to not let any grime or dirt enter into its crevices. This can be specifically troublesome to computerized ones.
➾ Dirt can clog certain parts and cause a lot of damage to the embroidery device. Always avoid placing it near the window, as you might invite more trouble when strong gusts of wind blow into your house.
➾ Go in for an economical plastic cover or better still, use old pillowcases or any such other reusable household fabrics. The cover would also prove to be useful when you have little children at your house. This would prevent them from being curious about the machine and in turn hurting themselves in any way.
➾ Always see to it that it is cleaned regularly. Always unplug the machine, before you begin any assignment. A routine cleaning everyday would keep it in perfect condition.

➾ You can use a soft cloth and fold it, so that you can use the folded part of the cloth to clean between the hard to reach areas.
➾ Ensure that the pressure foot is up, so that you can clean the tension disks thoroughly. Due to this, the cloth can be easily moved and can be used to wipe off any dirt clogged between the disks.

➾ Always use a can of compressed air to clean the difficult areas. Never use your breath, as it contains moisture and can cause corrosion to the parts.
➾ Always get into the habit of cleaning the lint out of sewing machine after every project. This would save you plenty of time when you embark upon a new project.

➾ Use appropriate sewing machine oil and refer to the instruction manual to know the areas that require oiling.
➾ Once you oil the parts, use some old piece of fabric that would cause the oil to run over the fabric, and ensure all the excess oil is completely out, before you start stitching something new. This would help to lubricate the areas and also reduce the formation of rust on its various parts.
➾ Make it a point to remove the needle and dispose it after an assignment. Clean under the feed dogs and bobbin area with a small brush.

➾ Use compressed air to blow out dirt from the bobbin case. At times the hook mechanism can be removed, but before placing it back, add a drop of oil to it. Always check your manual to know the kind of oil for your device.
➾ Another valuable tip would be to check the screws and set them. This can be done while cleaning the device. An easier way would be to tighten the loose screws as you come across them.

➾ When you choose a bobbin, ensure you find one that suits the device. Always wind them correctly to avoid hanging of threads from the bobbin. This can even jam the device.
